'24 Mont-Sainte-Anne DH
After a hugely successful season on the Enduro World Cup circuit, Yeti / Fox Factory rider (and EDR Champion) Richie Rude and Devo Junior rider Tyler Waite headed to Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada to compete in the final round of the UCI Downhill World Cup.
The fall colors were out in full force, and just like last year, Mont-Sainte-Anne provided the perfect backdrop for the season's final race. Rude and Waite laid down solid qualifying results aboard the Special Projects DH Bike, landing them in the finals.
Waite made an error in his race run, finding himself a bit up close and personal with a tree. Managing a quick recovery, he crossed the finish line in Third and placed himself on the Jr. Men's podium. An impressive result from the Junior racer, showing some admirable resilience and formidable pace.
Come time for Elite Men to get between the tape, the course had morphed into an entirely different beast. Heavy rain and muddy conditions played a big role in how the race was decided. Richie Rude was one of the first riders to drop, laying down a quick time initially positioning himself in the hot seat, and ultimately ending up in 7th place. This is Rude’s best elite DH result to date. What a way to wrap up the 2024 race season.
“I was feeling pretty good with the US Open leading into it, ended up 13th in quals, squeaked into semis with an okay run, and finished up in 7th place, which is rad. Got a little lucky with the weather, but it has been a great weekend overall. You always want to feel at home here at the World Cups and make that happen in the top ten.
