Yeti dominates UCI Enduro World Cup in Bielsko Biala, Poland

The Yeti / FOX and Yeti / Shimano teams dominated Poland’s first Enduro UCI event over the weekend taking 4-of-6 podium spots up for grabs in Elite Men’s EDR and E-EDR. Yeti / Fox racer, Sławomir Łukasik took 2nd in Enduro on Friday and then 1st in E-EDR the next day on his home turf with the support of hundreds of fellow Polish supporters. Teammate and last year’s overall Enduro Champion, Richie Rude finished 3rd in EDR and currently sits 2nd Overall in the series. Ryan Gilchrist (Yeti / Shimano) finished 3rd in the E-EDR, capping off a strong weekend for Yeti squad.

ENDURO

Both Richie Rude and Sławomir Łukasik were on fire, keeping pressure on each other and the rest of the field. With three stages to go and Slav still sitting in fifth, he put on the blinders and went on to win the final three stages, putting in time on Charlie Murray, who was leading almost the entire race. Once all times had been clocked, Łukasik trailed Murray by less than one tenth of a second, with Rude right behind in third place.

“The level of athletes are super high, so it’s a push from start to finish, making it a very exciting race. It’s a good sign for racing and the spectacle of it.”

“It feels good to get third. Obviously, I would like to be higher, but with the conditions and the rain coming in on stage two, it feels good to come out of the day without any major issues because it could have gone south quickly. Stoked to come out on the podium and have Slav out in second place. It was great to see Charlie up there. Even though I want to beat them both.”

U21, JT Fisher had another strong showing, finishing 5th. Teammate Lacey Adams led the race after the second stage, but an injury took her out of the final stages. Adams is on the mend and will join the team at EDR.3.

E-ENDURO

Łukasik marked Poland’s debut Enduro World Cup with a double-header, and raced E in addition to the prior day’s Enduro. With the support of his countrymen, despite never practicing or even racing a power stage, Slav took the lead after stage one and held that first-place spot throughout the entire day, claiming his first E-EDR podium and win.

“I felt pretty good. To be honest, I didn’t sleep the night before, maybe three hours, but overall, it was a good feeling with the pressure and expectations from everyone. I was just having fun and riding fast.”
Sławomir Łukasik

Yeti / Shimano EP Racing Team’s Ryan Gilchrist backed up last week’s win with another podium, this time in third, earning him enough points to retain the Leader’s Jersey. Teammate Mick Hannah ended the day two behind in fifth, rounding out the day with all Yeti’s in the top-five.

“It was a bit of an uphill battle with a slow leak on stage one, it was just about keeping air in my tire. It is such a great feeling to ride my bike, have fun, and get stage results. I don’t think anyone was going to catch the Polish powerhouse, my teammate Slav. But so awesome to have two Yeti’s on the podium.”
