While riding through the desert, Yeti Tech Rep Leah Vanderlinden crashed and suffered a tibia and femur fracture in October 2019. Immobilized by the impact and stranded without cell service, she was left immobile, preparing herself for the worst.
In our sport, injuries aren’t just possible; they’re inevitable. As Yeti Cycles Co-Owner Chris Conroy puts it, “It’s not if you’ll get hurt, it’s when.” Every athlete devoted to riding is familiar with the recovery process–it’s more than physical healing; it’s a mental reckoning. It’s about facing yourself, redefining your limits, and learning to move forward on and off the bike.
Leah’s story is a reflection of that journey–of resilience, persistence, recovery, and the evolving bond between athlete and sport. Watch her full story in our latest film, Uphill.
