Richie Rude is back. He smashed rocks, got bloody, rode fast, and even broke a smile on his way to victory at EWS 3 Montagnes du Caroux, France. After last season's disappointment and varied results to start this season, everyone was wondering when the 2-time EWS World Champ would get back to dominating form. A man of few words, we will never know what changed for the silent shredder. What we do know is he sent a clear message that you better watch the throne; he’s back on pace and looking to take the top spot again.
From the start of the race, Richie made it clear he was not holding anything back as he smashed his way through rocks and won the first three stages. Even as it started to rain on Stage 3, he did not let up. Richie rode in his signature all-or-nothing style. On Day 2, after the rain soaked the course, the locals had the upper hand and the French contingent pulled back time on the next few stages. A big crash in Stage 7 for Richie leveled the field, and it all came down to the final run. Richie was not letting this one slip away. He was fully pinned and claimed the overall victory for the weekend. Yeah, Richie.
Duncan Nason continued to prove he’s the top young rider on the circuit, winning the day and maintaining his overall series lead. A great weekend for Team Yeti/Fox.
