THE FIRST BIG MOUNTAIN ENDURO OF THE SEASON KICKED OFF LAST WEEKEND IN THE SOUTHERN ROCKY MOUNTAINS. RIDERS FROM THE YETI/FOX FACTORY, NATIONAL AND DEVO TEAMS RACED IN FULL FORCE.

Wintry conditions primed Camp Glorieta with hero dirt for Yeti riders to make a clean sweep of stage wins. Shawn Neer dominated four out of the six stages for the overall win, with teammates Carson Eiswald and Jubal Davis putting down the fastest times on the other two stages. Eiswald took 2nd overall, less than 22 seconds behind Neer, and Yeti Ambassador Mike West took the top step on the Master Men’s 40+ podium.

Big days amounting in 34.9 miles and 8,290 feet of climbing were further enhanced by physical and technical stages on the flanks of the Santa Fe National Forest. Big Mountain Enduro’s record numbers for the weekend set the bar high for a spot on the podium. Devo rider Quinn Reece was on track for his first pro podium finish after Day 1. A second day of racing and long, pedally stages challenged Reece’s reserves, and he had to settle for an 8th place right behind Davis.

Blair Reed, the official team “hype man”, was out on course all weekend keeping the stoke levels high for the team. Coming back from injury, he squeaked out a Top 30 in the highly contested field, all the while pumping the atmosphere full of energy and keeping social media flowing for BME.

On the women’s side, 16-year-old Devo racer Lauren Bingham threw down a Top 10 in her first race of the season, and the largest Pro Women’s field Big Mountain Enduro has seen to date. National and Devo riders Bingham, Reece, Eiswald and Davis head to Revelstoke, B.C. for an EWS North American Continental Series event on June 16.
