Racer

33 years old and 10 of those on Turq bikes. With a background steeped in downhill and BMX, I spend most of my time filming/producing video projects, MTB skills coaching and digging out in the woods with friends.

Yeti bike of choice - why?
Such a hard question, there is always a bike for a situation. My SB135 has been my nimble steed for tight trails and trying new tech maneuvers. The small wheels draw the creativity out of my riding and helps me keep improving. On the other hand, when it's time to turn on the gas and be reckless - the SB160 gets pulled out. The 160 paired with PUSH suspension doesn't deflect and feels bottomless when smashing into whatever I find on the trail. This bike breeds more confidence than any other bike I have stood over.
What is your first memory on a bike?
The first time I stood over a Turqoise bike?
Best feeling on a bike?
That exact moment when you're in a high-speed manual and need to drop your front end a touch with the rear brake - but it's not there. It gave you false hope. You start to see blue sky as everyone behind you starts to realize your fate of looping out. Your arms and legs straighten as an arrow trying to save the manual as your gaze meets all the sharp rocks it's about to make friends with, yet your fate is different. You bounce off the small piece of grass just off the side of the trail and basically land on your feet unscathed, wondering what just happened as everyone's screaming at you. In short, I like accepting my fate of dying and somehow getting away with it. Really makes you feel something inside.
What is your biggest source of inspiration outside of mountain biking? Why?
My parents.
A word of advice to the groms
Perfect one thing. Go practice only manuals until you are better than all your friends and can help them at getting better with them. Then move on to the next thing and master it.
Speed or Style?
Both of these don't matter without the other. Andreu Lacondeguy will go down as one of the greatest of all time for mastering the blend of these two.
Top 3 riding destinations?
1) That fresh cut trail that just got finished - wherever that may be. 2) Colorado high country in the fall. 3) Utah desert in the spring

Kit Details

Coming from living in a van and always have a clap wagon for a bicycle, getting on the Yeti factory race team and always having a silent race bike has been an absolute game-changer. It is something I will never take for granted and cannot thank Shaun Hughes and Mark Hild for keeping our bike pretty much brand new throughout the year. I am 5’ 10” tall and fit perfectly on a Medium, I do come from a BMX background and enjoy a bit smaller cockpit.

  1.  Bar Width (750mm)
  2.  Crank Length (170mm)
  3.  Stem (40mm)
  4.  Maxxis Assegai up front, DHF in the rear pretty much all year.
