"At the start of the season, I wasn't even sure I was going to do all four stops of the Crankworx World Tour. Due to visa complications and my travels throughout Europe for the EDR World Cup, I had to go back to Cairns to stay under that 90-day limit, and [Damion Smith, Team Manager] was like, 'I want you to acquire it (King of Crankworx)". That was obviously lighthearted, and for that to come to fruition now and to be currently leading the E-Enduro World Cup simultaneously is absolutely incredible. I am going home to see my family and my girlfriend, and it's the best feeling ever to be on top of the world in both of my categories."

Whistler Recap

Ryan Gilchrist, Richie Rude, Tyler Waite, Joe Millington, and Tom Locke came to Whistler between their Enduro World Cup schedule accompanied by Yeti Freeride rider Reed Boggs, and mechanics Shaun Hughes, Mark Hild, and Devin Dugan.

Full Whistler Results:

Canadian Open DH:

Gilchrist, Rude, and Waite took on the newly finished 1199 track (1199 track was named after the number of points the late Stevie Smith had when he won the overall). The track is challenging to say the least. Slotting somewhere between a World Cup DH course and Red Bull Hardline, riders were pushed to their limits to lay down the fastest time come race day.

Elite Men:

P21: Tyler Waite

P31: Ryan Gilchrist

P38: Richie Rude

Garbanzo DH:

A Whistler Crankworx classic, the Garbanzo DH sees riders take on 12+ mins of racing from the top of the Garbanzo zone all the way down to the Whistler Village. Tech, flow, jumps, and everything in between. Richie Rude piloted his SB160 and came out on top with Gilchrist just 4 seconds back.

Elite Men:

P1: Richie Rude

P2: Ryan Gilchrist

P9: Tyler Waite

U19 Men:

P3: Joe Millington

Air DH:

Taking place on the iconic A-Line jump trail, the Whistler Air DH sees racers trying to stay as low as possible to save time and scrub their way to the finish. Gilchrist edged out Rude for the top spot and more points to his overall King of Crankworx title.

Elite Men:

P1: Ryan Gilchrist

P3: Richie Rude

P14: Tyler Waite

U19 Men:
P8: Joe Millington

Whip-Off:

For the first time the whip-off in Whistler has been moved from the Crabapple Hits to a jump built just for the event right above the village. Reed Boggs competed on his SB165

Dual Slalom:

Ryan Gilchrist was knocked out in the round of 8 by Tegan Cruz by a mere 0.18 of a second.

Elite Men:
P7: Ryan Gilchrist

Speed & Style:

What is better, speed or style? At Crankworx, they pack both into a single event. Head-to-head racing with trick booters mixed in sees riders awarded time deductions for higher-difficulty tricks thrown throughout their race run.

Elite Men:

P12: Ryan Gilchrist

Pump Track:

Everyone knows what a pump track is nowadays. But at Crankworx, they have identical tracks next to each other, with riders going head-to-head before switching lanes and racing again. Gilchrist took the win on his Special Projects DJ and secured his ‘King of Crankworx’ title.

Elite Men:
P1: Ryan Gilchrist

Canadian Open Enduro:

The cherry on top of a week of events. The Candian Open Enduro saw riders tackle the whole mountain over 6 stages. U21 Yeti Devo rider Joe Millington took a spot on the podium with a 2nd place after a full day of racing.

Elite Men:

P15: Tom Locke

U21 Men:
P2: Joe Millington
